King Rusa The Conqueror
King Rusa I was a conqueror who succeeded King Sarduri II after the latter’s death. He conquered numerous Anatolian territories during his reign, something that was good for his kingdom but bad for all the conquered territories. Although he was successful as king, he had many enemies in the Anatolian region. They all sought to exert revenge on him and his kingdom following all the fear and terror he had inflicted upon their lives.
King Rusa I had worked hard to establish dominance during his father’s reign. The kingdom of Urartu had grown immensely, gaining dominance in the Anatolian region. Following the death of King Sarduri II, King Rusa I rose to the throne, but his reign did not go as smoothly as his fathers. Indeed, the many conquests he had led created enemies who wanted revenge. The Assyrians came together under their leader and soon began to plot their revenge. They organised themselves for battle, ready to make the king pay for all his actions.
