Almost all of us are allergic to something. Indeed, some illnesses or discomforts are caused by allergies that we do not know. While nearly half of the world’s population can be affected by allergies according to WHO data, it is important to be able to identify symptoms. There are many signs indicating the existence of a variety of types of allergies. Considering that some allergic reactions can lead to death, it is therefore necessary to know how the symptoms of allergies manifest themselves.
Symptoms of a food allergy
You know that you are a food victim when you observe an almost immediate reaction or 1 to 2 hours after ingesting the provocative food. This type of allergy is one of the most dangerous because it can be fatal. You should therefore pay close attention to the following symptoms:
- Edema of the face;
- Abdominal pain, diarrhea;
- Oral pruritus;
- Difficulty breathing ;
- Loss of consciousness ;
- Cardiac arrest, in extreme cases.
If you are faced with this type of symptoms and you have any doubts, you should absolutely consult an allergist. The specialist will confirm that it is indeed an allergic reaction because it can be a decoy. Indeed, some people can develop a non-allergic hypersensitivity which can be likened to an allergy. It is therefore up to the specialist doctor to decide.
To determine if it is indeed an allergy, the allergist will do skin tests and blood tests during his examination. In some cases, the specialist may also perform a reintroduction test for the food in question. If the tests are conclusive, the patient will be prohibited from consuming this offending food and will be recommended an emergency kit with an adrenaline pen.
Symptoms of skin allergy

Skin allergy can be caused by various contacts with products such as metals, cosmetics or chemicals or even drugs. This is why the allergist must give the patient an interview to be able to determine the cause very quickly. This is how he can establish the type of allergy from which the patient suffers and the treatment indicated.
